Core Values

Starting Sunday, Cornerstone is going to take a four week journey in reviewing and renewing our commitment to our core values. Core values are the basic, fundamental principles that govern and guide how we conduct ourselves and which decisions we make. Our core values can be found here.

We base our core values on Psalm 34:1-8. If we do not review them from time to time, then we really don't value them. If we don't use them to guide our course, then we really don't value them.

It gets me to thinking...what are my own personal core values? How about you?

It is always good to remember to keep the main thing the main thing. It is amazing how quickly we get forgetful along the way.

Hi Brett.

Here are some of our church's core values:

WORSHIP—We worship because it is the only response that God deserves. Our church’s worship life embraces a variety of liturgical expression, both traditional and contemporary.

OUTREACH—We believe that the church is faithful to its calling only when it is reaching out with the love and ministry of Christ to those outside the church who are hurting, broken, or lost.

RELATIONSHIP—A healthy church is a church that nurtures people’s relationship with Christ and their relationships with other people. We endeavor to be a relationship-building church through small group ministry and intentional fellowship.

DISCIPLINE—A spiritual discipline is any activity, practiced regularly, that helps one to become more attentive to the presence of God. At Central Highlands Church, we believe that the practice of spiritual disciplines is crucial to the development of vibrant discipleship. We place particular emphasis on the spiritual disciplines of prayer, Bible study, and personal involvement in acts of ministry.

I can't wait to start "Core Values", and see where God takes us.

My core value is simple, goes along with Bob's about keeping the main thing the main thing, but then that's my personal, not corporate church one, basically love God and neighbor as myself. The loving myself part is hard, so how does that reflect on how I love my neigbor sometimes? How about the rest of you all?

I like to think that these are my top five, in order:
1 - My relationship with Jesus Christ
2 - My relationship with my wife
3 - My ministry as a teacher, counselor, and musician
4 - My parents, brother, and sister
5 - Accountability relationships with significant Christian friends

1. Scripture

2. Salvation

3. Conversion

4. Reaching the lost

5. Offering the compassion of Christ
